You may have heard at one time or another or maybe often, one of your fellow anglers mentioning that “just getting out there on the water and spending a day fly-fishing is a successful day of fishing”.
Well…it’s true to some extent. Just spending some quality time with Mother Nature is always a special event.
But...what about that adrenaline charged heart pounding sensation of having a feisty five pound trout grab your fly?
…feeling that lightning bolt shooting through your body as your fly line snaps tight and zigzags through the surface film... your rod bending in two as your reel screams
“fish on”!!... as you watch that wriggling silver rocket launch out of the water then disappear in a splash, maybe for the last time.
I don’t know about you, but that’s what makes a day of fishing successful for me.
Time spent on stillwaters or by the river is enjoyable to be sure. But admit it, successfully tricking that wiley trout into taking your fly is what really makes your day.
Fly fishing is a sport that can take a lifetime for you to master and very few do. The ones who excel at it… attain legendary status amongst the rest of us.
But who has that kind of time to dedicate to a sport any more? The privileged few of course or professionals, but that’s about it.
We have a few suggestions to help change that.

If you haven’t heard of Brian or Phil until now, well… it’s better late than never.
Brian Chan is a fisheries biologist and has been in charge of the BC freshwater sports fishery for 28 years. Phil Rowley is one of the greats when it comes to tying flies. If you want to learn about which flies work and why, he’s the man to show you. Phil is very well known for his fly tying designs and techniques throughout western North America and has a successful book out on the subject. He’s also a great Stillwater fly fisherman with more tricks up his sleeve than a magician.

Wow! What a great video.
Before I received your email, I was planning on calling you to tell you thanks for the great Brian Chan Stillwater Fly Fishing production. The quality and content are excellent; even my "non-fly-fishing" wife found it interesting....we go around the house making that funny "bloop" noise that accompanies every screen change.
I look forward to viewing your other DVDs. Good luck on your future productions. I’m very satisfied!...
Thanks again,

Most people don’t even realize that they need to know the critical elements demonstrated on the DVD’s.
Your time is valuable and the time you get to spend fishing is priceless. It’s a big investment. You have to commit the time, make expensive travel arrangements to your fishing location, then rent or buy equipment and accommodation. It’s not cheap.
But obviously it’s worth the prospect of catching a fish!
That’s why you need to arm yourself with the extra knowledge that will make a positive difference to your fly-fishing success.
“This is great info, presented in a most useful manner, from the best stillwater flyfisherman I've had the luck to fish with.
I like being able to watch the fly tying sequence, then select at once the section on how to rig and fish that fly.
Too many modern sources of information--be they magazine articles, books, video's, or DVDs separate the parts of fishing and treat them as if they're separate and unrelated: fly tying, rigging, and presentation. They're all part of the same thing--catching fish--and they're all covered in this
fine DVD.
As an amateur aquatic entomologist, I was especially happy to see that Brian's DVD showed good footage of the naturals that the flies are tied to imitate, including their movement, which informs you how to fish the fly.”
